11 people were electrocuted during a temple chariot procession in Tamil Nadu, and the chief minister has offered a five-lakh-dollar aid package

Eleven people, including children, on Wednesday died of electrocution during a temple chariot procession in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district. At least 15 others have been injured in the incident. Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin has announced ₹5 lakh each as financial assistance for the deceased.

People standing on the chariot were electrocuted, police said. The incident occurred when the Appar temple chariot was being carried out.
