According to data from the Federal Ministry of Health on Thursday (October 28), India recorded 16,156 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 3,42,31,809. There have been 733 deaths in the past 24 hours, and the death toll has risen to 4,56,386.
The Ministry of Health added that active coronavirus infections in the country have dropped to 1,60,989 people, the lowest level in 243 days. The daily peak of new infections with COVID-19 has been below 30,000 for 34 consecutive days, and now fewer than 50,000 new cases have been reported every day for 123 consecutive days.
The Ministry of Health stated that the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.20%, the highest level since March 2020. According to data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as of October 27, the total number of coronavirus samples tested reached 60,44,98,405, of which 12,90,900 samples were tested on Wednesday.
