India’s daily Covid-19 cases remained below the 5,000-mark on Saturday, as 3,614 people tested positive in the last 24 hours. This is India’s lowest single-day rise since May 12, 2020, when there were 3,604 new infections. The country’s cumulative infection tally has risen to 42,987,875, as per the data.
The total number of recovered cases rose to 42,431,513 during this period, while the cumulative toll was 515,803. However, active cases continued to dip, and are currently at 40,559, down from 42,219 a day ago, a fall of 1660 cases.
The daily positivity rate for the Covid-19 vaccine has been recorded at 0.44 per cent, from a total of 821,122 samples tested so far; total 777,758,414 samples have been tested thus far. This means that since the beginning of the nationwide inoculation drive on January 16 last year, nearly 1.8 billion doses have been administered across the country. The weekly positivity rates for the same vaccine, meanwhile, was recorded as 0.52 per cent.
