Pune: Four people were killed and at least six injured in a crash on the Pune-Mumbai highway at 6.30am on Tuesday. Six vehicles, including a container, a truck, two cars and a rhythm, collided, a police officer said. The car was crushed between the container and two trucks.
Police identified three of the four killed as Gaurav Kharat, 36, Saurabh Tulse, 32, and Sidharth Rajguru, 31. The fourth victim is being identified.
Police said the truck driver lost control and caused the crash. The four were in a Swift car and were caught in the center of the pile, they added. Senior Inspector Shirish Pawar said the injured escaped without any major injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.
The bodies of the four were taken to a government hospital for post-mortem examinations.
