Late on Saturday night, in the Kothapally village of Aizaw mandal, Jogulamba-Gadwal district, a couple and their three young children were killed after the wall of their hut collapsed.

Their other two children escaped with minor injuries. The victims were identified as Puddeddula Mosha (40), his wife Shanthamma (35) and their children Charan (11), Teja (9) and Ramu (7). The injured children Sneha (5) and Chinna (4) were taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance.

“They slept by the wall,” he said. Mr. Kumar said that the incident was not exposed until several villagers noticed the house on the morning of October 10. The body was taken from the rubble and transferred to the government hospital morgue for autopsy.

When asked whether the collapse of the wall should be attributed to rain, the official said that “it did not rain here.” Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his grief over the incident and announced a special offer of Rs 500,000 for affected families.
