During this time there was a discussion about the spread of black fungus (mucormycosis) in the country. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has reported that a total of 5,424 cases of black fungus infection (Mucormycosis) have been reported in India so far.
Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said- So far, there have been 5,424 cases of Black Fungus (Mucaramicosis) in 18 states / UTs. He further stated that out of 5,424 cases, 4,556 patients had COVID19 infection.
A total of 55% of these patients had diabetes. The Health Minister gave this information at a virtual meeting of the Group of Ministers on Monday.
There are very few cases of black fungus infection in humans. Black fungus occurs in soil, plants, spoiled fruits and vegetables and sometimes humans also get infected after coming into contact with it.
Doctors say that steroid is being used to treat corona infection. Steroid affects immunity and black fungus catches only those with weak immunity. This is the reason why most patients recovering from corona, especially diabetic patients are prone to black fungus.
