The total number of infected people in the country increased to 27,67,273 on Wednesday after 64,531 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in India in one day. The Union Health Ministry said that more than 20 lakh people in the country have become infection-free and with this, the rate of recovery of patients has gone up to 73.64 percent.
According to the latest data released by the ministry at eight o’clock in the morning, the death toll rose to 52,889 with 1,092 people dead in the last 24 hours. However, there has been a decline in death cases and its rate is now 1.91 percent. According to the ministry, there are 6,76,514 people in the country still undergoing treatment for coronavirus, which is 24.45 percent of the total cases.
So far 20,37,870 people have become infection-free. On August 7, Covid-19 cases in the country crossed 20 lakh. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 3,17,42,782 samples were tested in the country till August 18, out of which 8,01,518 samples were tested only on Tuesday.
