The compound wall of the Biharsharif district court collapsed on them on Friday morning, killing a 45-year-old woman and seriously injuring six others, according to police.
The incident occurred during the course of court proceedings. Rajmatia Devi, a resident of Hargawan village under Manpur police station, was identified as the deceased, according to police, who added that the injured were rushed to Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Pawapuri, for treatment.
The boundary wall was dilapidated, according to the police, and a section of it suddenly caved in around 10 a.m. They said seven people were trapped under the debris, one of whom died on the spot.
Some roadside stalls near the wall were also damaged, according to police.
People were standing near the boundary wall for breakfast and tea when the incident occurred, according to eyewitness Ganga Kumar.
“Six people were hurt and are receiving treatment.” “A case has been filed, and further investigation is underway,” said Vaibhav Srivatava, DDC of Nalanda. The remaining portion of the boundary wall, which could pose a danger to people living nearby, will be demolished by civic personnel as a precaution, he added.
In a separate incident, three people were killed when their motorcycle collided with a truck on Bihta-Sarmera state highway-78 near Kazichak village in Nalanda’s Rahui police station.
The victims have been identified as Raju, Bunty, and Ravi, who are cousins and live in Pranchak village, Chandi police station. “The three victims were riding home from a wedding reception when their motorcycle collided with a truck. While Raju and Bunty died on the spot, Ravi was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway,” said law and order DSP Sushil Kumar, adding that the driver and cleaner were able to escape.
