It’s been almost a year since I was diagnosed with vestibular hypofunction, and in that time, I’ve learned a lot about myself and my condition. For the uninitiated, vestibular hypofunction is a disorder of the inner ear that can cause dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance. For me, it was a complete shock. I first started experiencing symptoms last February, and by May, I was diagnosed. It was a really tough time for me because I had no idea what was happening to my body. I felt like I was losing control and I didn’t know how to cope. Thankfully, with the help of my family and friends, I was able to get through it. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m slowly starting to feel like myself again. If you or someone you know is dealing with vestibular hypofunction, I want you to know that you’re not alone.
