India may discuss the sale of potential super-advanced S-500 and S-550 missile systems with Russia next month. Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to visit India in December to hold a bilateral dialogue with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
An Eurasian Times report stated that Prime Minister Modi may discuss the potential sale of S-500 and S-500 missile systems with Putin. If the negotiations yield results, India may become the first foreign buyer of Russian-made S-500 and S-550 SAM air defense systems. S-500 Prometey (Russian for Prometheus) has been developed and successfully tested for the first time in July this year.
