The turmoil within the Punjab Congress washed away on Wednesday at the door of Federal Minister of the Interior Amit Shah. Former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh met with Mr. Shah at his residence, triggering his next political destination. It is probably the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The meeting between Mr. Shah and Mr. Singh lasted 45-50 minutes, and the latter, through his media adviser, Raveen Thukral, stated that he “meeted in Delhi with the Federal Minister of the Interior Amit Shah. The farmers’ long-term agitation on the farm law was discussed and urged He repealed the law and guaranteed MSP (Minimum Support Price), in addition to supporting crop diversification in Punjab.” The statement did not mention any political arrangements that may have been discussed, but it did point out the crux of any such arrangements between Mr. Singh and the People’s Party. Three agricultural laws-the Farmer’s Agricultural Products Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act of 2020; the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Guarantee Agreement and Farm Services Act of 2020; and the Basic Commodities (Amendment) Act of 2020- Having been the subject of protests for the past 11 months, Mr. Singh was one of the first chief ministers to fully support the agitation of farmers’ groups. It is difficult to make political arrangements with the BJP without a middle ground on how to solve this issue. Sources said that the BJP, which is very eager for Mr. Singh to join its camp, has also noticed this. The leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party have been facing protests in various regions of Punjab and Haryana, and are eager to find a way out of the chaotic situation of agricultural laws. Therefore, Mr. Singh’s suffering and his resignation as the chief minister of Punjab are at the right time for the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is keen to disperse the turmoil of the peasants and perform decently in Punjab. The source told the Hindu that although they are determined not to withdraw these laws, many other ways may be considered, including further amendments or the establishment of a broader committee to resolve this issue. Mr. Singh is the central endeavor of these issues.
