According to the latest news from the Alliance Ministry of Health, India reported nearly 500 new Omicron infections on Thursday, as the total number of this latest Covid-19 variant reached 2,630. According to the Ministry of Health, active cases are less than 1%, accounting for 0.81% of the total number of confirmed infections in the country.
According to Balram Bhargava, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Omicron is currently the main strain in India. “Mass gatherings should be avoided to reduce the speed of this spread,” he suggested at a briefing by the Ministry of Health the night before.
