Union Home Minister Amit Shah will make a statement in both houses of Parliament on the recent attack on the convoy of All India Parliament (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said Owaisi’s car was shot at the Chhajarsi Toll Plaza in the Hapur district of western Uttar Pradesh on Thursday night. The shots were fired as Owaisi returned to Delhi after a door-to-door campaign for his party’s candidates in the Kithore parliamentary constituency of Meerut district on Thursday night. The day after his convoy was attacked, he was given Class Z safety, which he later declined.

The Commons will also discuss the federal budget on Monday.

Tribal Affairs Union Minister Arjun Munda is due to introduce a bill on Monday to amend the list of tribes in the Lok Sabha Tripura program.

Arjun Munda will introduce the Constitution (Book Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2022. The bill seeks to amend the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order of 1950 to include certain communities in Tripura’s list of scheduled tribes associated with the state. Currently, Tripura has 19 notified scheduled tribes.
A bill to amend the SC and ST lists in polled states of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand is also on the government’s agenda, according to an announcement made last week.

In Rajya Sabha, Munda will move the Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2022. The Act seeks to further amend the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order 1950 to remove Bhogta communities from Scheduled Castes associated with Jharkhand and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order 1950 to include certain communities into Scheduled Tribes associated with the state list.

Debate on the thank-you motion will continue in both houses, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to take part in the debate in the lower house.
