Andhra Pradesh approves Rs 2,021-cr infra project

The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet has approved new development projects, including the Rs 1 billion Vizag Beach Corridor to make Visakhapatnam a major tourist destination.

According to Special Chief Secretary (Tourism and Culture) Rajat Bhargava, the Vizag Beach Corridor projects, which connect the heritage city of Bheemili with the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport, will create and develop new development pathways at a cost total of Rs 1,021 crore. .

He informed that the project will be a ‘Hotel District’ with world-class accommodation facilities (beach resorts and hotels) for visitors, an amusement park, ecotourism, swimming pool, water sports avenue, food court, shopping center, fishing corridor.

The 19.66 km long Bhimili-Bhogapuram section will be an entirely new six-lane controlled access road for frictionless movement (expressway).

The government has declared Visakhapatnam as the state’s working capital and tourism development is of greater importance in the region.

The Vizag Beach Corridor project will have smart road elements such as cycle tracks (2.2 meters on each side), pedestrian walkways (1.8 meters on each side), high-level street furniture with landscaping, smart poles (LED streetlights, CCTV , Public WiFi and sensors), utility crossings (water, drainage, electricity, fiber), bus bays, car bays, public bike stations, and recreation parking lanes.

The project will consist of hanging/suspension bridges over the Gosthani River at two locations. The riverfront area near the bridges over the Gosthni River will be developed as an urban recreation area.
