The state Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy told the media that the state government is committed to complete the construction of 17 lakh houses, which would be handed over to the beneficiaries in Phase-1 of the Navaratnalu Pedalandariki illu programme. Rajendranath Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav, the district in-charge Minister held a review meeting of several government programmes on Monday in Kurnool district.

He told the media that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister, was committed to fulfilling the dreams of the homeless to own their own house. Reddy told the media that under the Navaratnalu Pedalandariki illu programme, 30 lakh houses are proposed to be constructed. On the 1st, 3rd and 4th of next month, housing ground melas will be held, and we will ensure our targets of allotting houses to the beneficiaries are met at any cost.

Various ruling party legislators brought to the notice of the minister that the housing for all programme had hit a roadblock at several assembly constituencies in Kurnool district due to the non-availability of government lands. The state finance minister instructed the officials of Kurnool district to adopt a similar approach where government lands were not available after the legislators pointed out that the district administrations of Nellore and East Godavari districts had purchased private lands to speed up the housing scheme in their respective districts.
