Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will pay a visit to Punjab Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala’s home in the Mansa district on Friday, just days after he was shot dead not far from his home. In the singer-turned-hometown, politician’s extensive security measures have been put in place. The young rapper was killed on Sunday, a day after the state reduced his security.

On Friday morning, protests erupted outside Sidhu Moosewala’s home ahead of the chief minister’s visit. Locals were enraged by the police blockade erected around the house. The cops are accused of preventing the relatives from entering the house.

Protesters also stopped AAP MLA Gurpreet Banawali, but the AAP leader apologised on behalf of the cops.

The Congress has blamed the ruling government for the murder and demanded an investigation by a federal agency, a demand echoed by Moose Wala’s family.

A delegation led by Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Warring met with governor Banwari Lal Purohit on Wednesday to discuss the issue. Partap Singh Bajwa, the state assembly’s leader of opposition, had also chastised the AAP for failing to meet with the bereaved family. “It’s been four days and no member of the ruling AAP’s legislature or minister has paid a visit to Sidhu Moosewala’s family and stood by them in their hour of grief. Is this what you meant, CM Bhagwant Mann ji, when you said our government would be for AAM AADMI? “On Wednesday, the Congressman sent out a tweet.

Punjab finance minister Harpal Cheema and rural development minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal visited Moosewala’s house later on Thursday and expressed sadness upon meeting his father.

After the Moose Wala killing, the state’s decision to downgrade the security of over 400 VIPs drew widespread criticism as a move against “VIP culture.”

The Punjab and Haryana high court ordered the government to reverse the order on Thursday.

“I applaud the Honourable Punjab and Haryana High Court’s decision to restore security to all 424 people. It’s past time for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to step down as Home Minister and hand over the reins to someone more capable and professional. (emphasis added) “Following the court order, Bajwa took to Twitter.
