Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 series is at least 6 months away, but some rumours about the design, specs and price have already been circulating online. According to a new report from MacRumors, Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to come with up to 8GB of RAM. If true, this is the largest amount of storage Apple has offered in an iPhone model to date. This was revealed in an article by “yeux1122” on the Korean blog Naver. Citing supply chain sources, the post claims that the storage components for the iPhone 14 Pro have now been confirmed. Additionally, the report said “volume production plans appear to be accelerating.” For the uninitiated, Samsung smartphones have offered 8 GB of RAM since the 2019 Galaxy S10 series models. In a separate report, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu suggested that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models will feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively. He also suggested that the two Pro models will offer 8GB of RAM. For the uninitiated, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro models currently only offer up to 6GB of RAM. Since the non-Pro models have less RAM than the Pro models, the other two non-Pro models in the upcoming iPhone 14 series are not expected to offer 8 GB of RAM.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro model expected specs, features
According to a previous report, Apple is expected to ditch the notch on the iPhone Pro models in favor of a punch-hole display. The site claims that the 6.06-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature punch-hole displays that allow a view of the small selfie camera body instead of the notch above.
The report also hints that Apple will use low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) for the OLED panels of the iPhone 14 Pro models. These panels were introduced in this year’s iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models. The LTPO panel allows the iPhone 14 series Pro models to offer a variable refresh rate of 120 Hz, which is likely to be provided by Samsung Display.
In addition, reports have also suggested that the iPhone 14 series may be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint sensor, which will enable the Touch ID function in the follow-up products of the iPhone 13 series. In addition, the iPhone 14 Pro models feature a 48-megapixel primary sensor on the back with a quad-unit binning output mode that uses raw data from the 48-megapixel sensor to generate a 12-pixel image, creating more detail and less noise.
