The three-month free trial period offered by U.S. tech giant Apple for new users has been shortened to one month in some countries, including the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan and the U.K.
According to GSM Arena, the move will not affect the limited six-month trial program granted for a limited time with the purchase of some Apple devices such as AirPods, HomePod mini and some Beats products.
Monthly subscription fees also appear to be unaffected so far. An individual Apple Music plan is still $9.99 ($4.99 for college students), and a family plan for five is $14.99.
There’s also the updated Apple Music Voice Plan, which allows you limited access to certain music catalogs via voice and Siri without the need for space or lossless audio, for $4.99 a month.
According to GSM Arena, Apple is exploring ways to close the huge gap with Spotify, which remains a giant in music streaming market share.
