Indian soldiers had a tense confrontation with Chinese troops who crossed the line of actual control or LAC crossed Arunachal Pradesh last week.
The development took place one month after the Chinese army invaded Uttarakhand. The source said: “There are differences in views on the actual line of control in the area…Both sides are conducting patrols within their line of view.” Sources indicate that the physical contact between Indian and Chinese soldiers may have lasted for several hours before the soldiers from both sides disengaged. India’s defense in this sector has not been compromised. There have been reports of China’s invasion of the region many times in the past.
On August 30, nearly 100 Chinese soldiers crossed LAC 5 kilometers in the Barahouti area north of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve last month and returned a few hours later from the area guarded by the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) , The news agency PTI said. According to the sources cited by PTI, Barahoti had a minor violation due to the different views of the two parties on LAC.
However, they said that what surprised Indian officials was the number of Chinese soldiers who violated the rules on August 30. China has also greatly accelerated infrastructure construction in Latin America. After the confrontation in eastern Ladakh, India has been keeping a strict vigil along the nearly 3,500 kilometers of LAC. On May 5 last year, after violent clashes in the Pangong Lake area, a border standoff broke out between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh. Both sides gradually strengthened their presence by influx of tens of thousands of soldiers and heavy weapons.
After a series of military and diplomatic talks, the two sides completed the disengagement process in the Gogra area last month.
