Australia’s Ashes movement fell into chaos on Friday. Batsman Travis Hyde tested positive for Covid-19 and ruled out a fourth Ash test for England next week. The No. 5 player, who scored a staggering 152 points in the first test in Brisbane, will stay in Melbourne and be quarantined for 7 days. “Unfortunately, Travis returned a positive Covid-19 result earlier today,” the Australian cricket team said.

“Fortunately, he has no symptoms at this stage. We expect that he will be able to participate in the fifth ashes test in Hobart.”

It is unclear whether other Australian players have close contact.

Mitchell Marsh, Nic Maddinson and Josh Inglis have been called into the team as cover, but the experienced Usman Khawaja likes to take over the head position and participate in the first test since 2019 Ashes.

Hyde is the latest positive case of the coronavirus in the Ashes Tour. England coach Chris Silverwood also withdrew from the Sydney test after a family member failed the test.

Since the virus was first detected during Boxing Day testing and the PCR testing system was implemented on Monday, the tour group has so far recorded seven positive results-three support staff and four family members.

According to reports, England’s fast bowling coach Jon Lewis, spin coach Jitan Patel and fitness coach Darren Venez are all in isolation.

So far, the referee of the International Cricket Committee, David Boon, has acted as a referee in every test. After his test result is positive, he will also be absent from Sydney.
