The ruling Trinamool Congress is heading towards a huge victory for the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and is ready to retain the Citizens Council.
Celebrations are taking place at North 24 Parganas where the party led by Mamata Banerje has won a civic group election at Bidhannagar.c, an ANI opinion said
Besides Bidanagar, elections were also held in Siliguri, Asansol and Chandanagar on Saturday. The Siliguri Municipal Corporation is run by the Left Front, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) controls the other three institutions.
Counting begins at 8 am.
The BJP on Sunday called for re-voting in Bidhannagar and Asansol, accusing widespread manipulation and violence.
In a letter to the State Election Commission (SEC), state BJP chairman Sukanta Majumdar said the police were a silent bystander during the public manipulation during Saturday’s polls.
