Bhumika Chawla, best known for her role as Salman Khan in Tere Naam, said that just because she is married and has children, it is often assumed that the actor is not interested in the work.

Bhumika started her journey in 2000 and she starred in several Tamil and Telugu films before her first Hindi film, Tere Naam, was released in 2003. After working in film for many years, Bhumika married her boyfriend, yoga teacher Bharat Thakur in 2007 and gave birth to son Yash in 2014.

Asked about her work, Bumika told The Times of India: “I walk a tightrope. On the one hand, I need to be seen and make it clear to producers and directors that I’m still working so they can reach me. Unless you’re on screen, people will assume you’re married and have kids, so you’re not interested. So that’s where social media and PR come in handy.

She added that she never rests and works in South Indian films. “I have three movies to play now. So far, I have one that was originally scheduled to start in October-November last year. But that was delayed due to scheduling issues, and then the Omicron wave happened. I made another A Hindi-language film, which was supposed to be released in January-February, was also delayed due to the pandemic. I also understand now that OTT is more viable in these times.”

Bhumika talked about work shortly after her son was born. She said she made a Kannada film six months after her son was born. Next, she wrote the sports biography MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. She said she also made three films in Telugu.
