Bihar Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said on Thursday that the students who took the intermediate exam for class 12 car headlights were due to exceptional circumstances.

The incident took place on Tuesday night at Maharaja Harendra Kishore College, an examination centre in the state’s Motihari town.

When asked about the matter, the education minister said the arrangements were made because of exceptional circumstances during the exam. He added that further instructions were given in this regard.

“During the inspection, special circumstances arose there, that’s why such arrangements were made and instructions were given in this regard,” news agency ANI quoted Chowdhury as saying.

Officials had said the exams were supposed to start at 1.45pm, but only at 4.30pm due to what one of the officials said was poor local management.

Sanjay Kumar, district education officer for East champaran district, said the matter was being investigated. “We’re looking at how and under what circumstances the centre’s exams start late.”

The Bihar State School Examination Board (BSEB) has started the 2022 Intermediate or Grade 12 final exams on February 1.
