The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday unveiled its first list of 34 candidates for the upcoming Goa parliamentary elections, with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant from the Sanquelim seat . Elections will be held in stages on February 14.
At the press conference, the BJP leader and the election chief of the Goa Devendra Fadnavis party also announced that Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar will run for the Margao parliamentary constituency.
In announcing the list, Fadnavis said the BJP had ushered in a new era of development in Goa over the past 10 years.
“The BJP has achieved stability in Goa and is on track to achieve the development goals envisioned by the late former CM Manohar Parrikar…Goa has had no serious law and order problems since the BJP took power,” he said.
New entrants with ticket awards include Jayesh Salgaocar from Saligao, Rohan Khaunte from Porvorim, Ravi Naik from Ponda and Govind Gaude from Priol.
MLA from Panjim, Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate, also got a ticket this year.
