Bahujan Samaj Party chairman Mayawati will start her campaign on February 8 in a Punjab parliamentary poll scheduled for next month.

On Friday, the party’s Punjab president Jasvir Singh Gashi said the BSP chief would hold a rally in Nawan Shahr.

Garhi said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BSP coalition will form the next government of Punjab with a clear majority.

“The BSP-SAD alliance will free Punjab from the tyranny of the Congress party and win the 2022 parliamentary elections,” he said.

It is worth noting that earlier this month, BSP secretary-general SC Misra had said that Mayawati would not contest the Uttar Pradesh parliamentary elections scheduled for next month and would help candidates win state polls.

Five states, including Punjab, are due to vote in parliament next month.

Elections in Punjab will be held on February 20 and vote counting will take place on March 10.
