In the last 5 years, since 2014, the number of central government employees has also decreased. However, in 2014, the number of sanctioned posts of 36.45 lakhs has increased by about 1.57 lakhs. According to the data given by the Ministry of Personnel, as on 1 March 2018, a total of 31.18 lakh employees were employed against the sanctioned capacity of more than 38 lakh posts, compared to 32.23 lakh in 2014.
