In the hearing held today, the Delhi High Court said that the construction work of Central Vista will continue. The High Court held that Central Vista is an important, necessary national project.
Not only this, the Delhi High Court dismissed a petition requesting the Central Vista project to be halted amidst a global pandemic of Covid-19 with a fine of one lakh rupees.
A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh dismissed the plea requesting the project to be halted during the global epidemic of Corona Varayas, saying the petition was “motivated” for some purpose and not an actual public interest litigation. The court fined the petitioners one lakh rupees.
The court said that the work under the contract awarded to Shapoorji Pallonji Group is to be completed by November 2021 and therefore it should be allowed to continue. He said that the Supreme Court had already validated the project.
The Central Vista Project envisages the construction of a new Parliament building, a new residential complex, with the construction of the Central Secretariat for the residence of the Prime Minister and the Vice-President, as well as several new office buildings and offices of the Ministers.
