Air France-KLM Group and IndiGo announced on Thursday that they have reached a codeshare agreement that allows the two airlines to sell seats on each other’s flights.
A joint statement mentioned that through this new partnership, Air France and KLM will provide their customers with access to 25 new destinations in India.
This means that once the codeshare agreement comes into effect, the Air France-KLM Group will be able to sell IndiGo seats on 25 domestic routes on its distribution system.
The joint statement pointed out that similarly, IndiGo will be able to sell seats on more than 250 routes of this European airline group.
In the code-sharing agreement, each airline on its distribution system can sell seats on other flights.
Air France and KLM operate flights to four cities in India-Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore from their hubs in Paris and Amsterdam.
The statement mentioned: “Subject to government approval, this cooperation (code sharing) will begin in February 2022.” IndiGo has also signed code sharing agreements with Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and American Airlines.
Since March 23 last year, India has suspended regular international passenger flights. However, under the “bubble” arrangement, passenger flights between India and approximately 32 countries, including France and the Netherlands, are limited.
