Google is preparing the Google Photos watch face for the Wear OS devices, according to a story from last month. According to rumours, users would be able to set one or more personal photographs as their watch faces. As of right now, we can see the Google Photos watch face, the Google Home, and the Personal Safety app for the first time.
Speaking of the Google Photographs watch face, you can customise your photos to have a circular crop based on the watch’s design (via Mishaal Rahman). Date/day and time are the two configurations that can be stacked on top of the watch face. It appears that the Pixel Watch’s Google Photos watch face looks similar to the Android 12 lockscreen.
Notably, users will be able to cycle through the chosen photographs all day long with Google Photos. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series might also experience it.
With smart home devices listed inside a rounded rectangle, the Google Home for Wear OS offers a card list design. An icon, background colour, device name, and room name are all included in the rectangle. Using the “+” and “-” buttons, you can quickly raise or lower the temperature and change the brightness. One of the screenshots also includes a security alert for “Person observed.” There is uncertainty on whether the Google Home will only be available on the Pixel Watch, similar to the Google Photos watch face.
The screenshots that have been circulated also show a watch face called Pilot, a simple mechanical watch face with bigger 6/9/12 timings. There are two additional watch faces with the names Ink and Pacific that we are unable to clearly see. Nevertheless, it seems obvious that the Pixel Watch will be the first to introduce these new functions. The snapshot of the Personal Safety app, which enables you to summon a predetermined emergency contact or service, is the last but not least.
