Just three days before the result, Panaji’s Congressional Elections Bureau and its party office in Margao were in high spirits on Monday as the party assessed the situation of its 37 candidates. A day earlier, AICC Goa office chief Dinesh Gundu Rao said the party was ready to join forces with “anti-BJP parties” including AAP and TMC.

The latest stance marks a departure from the party’s previous stance accusing the AAP and TMC of harming it under orders from the BJP.

On Monday, Rao told The Indian Express: “Whatever party is against the BJP, we’re talking to them and ready to get them in. I’m not talking about any particular party right now. Any party that does not want to support the BJP, we are ready to accept them. ”
