Congress MPs protesting against the hike in diesel and cooking gas prices at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi

Rahul Gandhi leads a protest against fuel price hike by Congress MPs in Delhi. The protest is being held at the iconic Vijay Chowk. Gandhi has stepped up his offensive against the ruling party in the last few days amid a surge in petrol and diesel prices.

The Congress also launches its three phase campaign – ‘Mehngai-mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’ – against the centre from Thursday. The campaign will continue till April 7. (“Petrol and diesel prices have been increased nine times in last 10 days,” Gandhi says.)

Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury: We demand that fuel prices be rolled back. The government cannot understand the difficulties being faced by the public. MPs were also seen shouting slogans against the govermment in a video shared by ANI.

India saw another surge in petrol price on Thursday – the ninth revision in 10 days. Delhi now sells petrol at ₹101.81 per litre while diesel is being sold at ₹93.01 litre.
