To defeat the BJP-led government in Manipur, Congress on Thursday joined five other parties to form a coalition of polls, whose name and common minimum plan will be announced soon.
MPCC Chairman N Loken told reporters that Congress will work together and share responsibility with CPI, CPI(M), RSP, JD(S) and Forward Block in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He said the parties worked hand in hand to defeat the BJP’s common goal.
Congress Legislative Party leader O Ibobi told a news conference in Congress Bhavan that the coalition has decided to put forward common candidates in the remaining 59 parliamentary seats, apart from Kakching, which the GOP may have in a friendly rivalry with the CPI.
He said Congress had decided not to send any candidate in Hulai, but to support the CPI in the constituency.
CPI State Secretary L Sotinkumar said the name of the alliance and its common minimum plan will be announced soon.
