Covid-19: 3,303 cases in India in 24 hours, with over 17,000 active cases

India reports another Covid-19 spike with 3,303 new infections in the last 24 hours and 39 fatalities. The active cases increased by 701 in the past one day at a rate of 0.04 per cent. Total infections count reached 4,30,68,799.

Mumbai registered 112 new cases of coronavirus COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, highest since February 25. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray: “The corona is not over yet, with new viruses being born around the world”. In China, 40 cr people are currently in lockdown due to the outbreak.

The spike in cases comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with chief ministers over the crisis. PM Modi said the challenges related to the pandemic were not over.

India’s coronavirus tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, 80 lakh on November 29 and 90 lakh on December 20.
