The second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic in Telangana, following which the state was shut down, forced many construction workers to lose their jobs.

About one lakh construction workers have already left Hyderabad. Many migrant workers in Hyderabad are from Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.

About 40% of the construction workers are from the northern states of India. Construction work has come to a standstill once many workers leave Hyderabad.
