People living in the capital will now be able to ask for alcohol at home. The Delhi government has approved the home delivery of liquor by making changes in the excise rules.

However, only those shops who have L-13 license will be able to do home delivery. The condition is also that the delivery of liquor will be done only at home, not at any hostel, office or other institution.

With the announcement of the lockdown in the capital last month, there was a rush at the liquor shops. There has been a small concession in lockdown from May 31, but liquor shops will remain closed for now.

In such a situation, it is believed that with the introduction of home delivery, the demand will be very high. A similar experiment has been done in many other states also.

What are its rules:

  1. Only those with an L-13 license will be able to do home delivery of Indian liquor and foreign liquor. For this, the order can be taken on the mobile app or online web portal.
  2. Delivery will only be delivered to homes after the order is received. Liquor will not be delivered in hostel, office, or any other institution.
  3. Restaurants, clubs, and bars attached to hotels will be able to serve alcohol in open spaces.

Home delivery of liquor was not completely banned in Delhi. Till now the rule was that shops with L-13 licenses could deliver liquor to homes provided the order was received through email or fax.
