A couple was allegedly arrested after trying to enter Rashtrapati Bhavan late on Monday night. Police said the couple was in a car and broke the roadblock when trying to break into the presidential palace. The couple was immediately stopped by security personnel inside and arrested by Delhi police for violating security regulations.
The couple were in their 20s and drove a Hyundai i-20 at the time. The police seized the car and registered the couple under the Unlawful Invasion, Vandalism, and Motor Vehicle Law. According to a complaint by an ACP-level official, the South Street Police Department registered them with FIR.
The official said that they received news about the incident at 11:35 pm. The couple ran into several roadblocks and tried to enter Rashtrapati Bhavan through one of the gates. Both passengers in the car forcibly entered the Presidential Palace without authorization for no reason.
They were stopped outside gate 17 of RP Bhavan, where they were found drunk. They were sent to RML Hospital for medical examination,” FIR wrote.
