Delhi’s schools will be closed from tomorrow until a further order in response to the air crisis, State Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced today, shortly after the Supreme Court’s ruling.
“Considering the forecast that air quality will improve, we have reopened the school. However, the air pollution level has increased again, and we decided to close the school from Friday until there is further order,” Gopal Rai said.
The Supreme Court warned of severe action and issued a 24-hour ultimatum to central Delhi and neighboring states in response to industrial and vehicle pollution-which is seen as the main reason for the deterioration of air quality.
The Supreme Court accused the Arvind Kejriwal government of reopening schools, stating that “three-year-old and four-year-old children go to school, but adults work from home.” “We will appoint someone to run your government,” Chief Justice NV Ramana said.
After closing on November 13, physical education classes in schools, universities and other educational institutions have resumed from Monday.
