Air quality in Delhi was in the “very poor” category on Friday, as the city is expected to be generally cloudy with light rain or drizzle on Friday. The hourly air quality index (AQI) at 7am was 384, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
AQIs between 0 and 50 are considered “good”, 51 and 100 are considered “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”.
The Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research System said on Thursday the AQI showed a “very poor” category. “Tomorrow (Friday), the AQI is expected to remain ‘very poor’ as temperatures and wind speeds are likely to remain virtually unchanged. Rain is likely on the 22nd and 23rd, with gusts causing wet precipitation and strong dispersion, resulting in a significant AQI improved to ‘poor’.”
A low of 10C is possible on Friday, while a high of 19C is possible. Thursday saw a low of 10 degrees Celsius and a high of 19 degrees Celsius.
