New Delhi: Under new Covid rules, all private offices in Delhi will send staff to work from home in response to a surge in cases. Only offices deemed essential services will be exempt.
So far, offices have been asked to keep half of their employees in the office and the rest at home. The city’s government offices are working at 50% attendance
Those exempted from the new rule include private banks, offices providing essential services, insurance companies, pharma companies, microfinance companies, lawyers’ offices and courier services.
The decision was made by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
Yesterday, Delhi closed restaurants and bars and said only takeaways and home deliveries were allowed.
Delhi reported more than 19,000 new cases yesterday, down slightly from 22,751 on Sunday. Yesterday’s positivity rate was 25%, the highest since May 5. The city also reported 17 deaths.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said cases in the city could peak “in a day or two, definitely this week”, after which a third wave of infections would start to decline.
