While the jury is still out on the impact of Omicron-led waves on children, especially in the under-5 age group, the effects of the deadly disease continue even after recovery, which can be devastating for children.

A new study released by the CDC shows how Covid-19 has contributed to an increase in childhood diabetes cases, although it is unclear whether these children’s metabolic conditions are temporary or chronic.

Cases of MISC in children peaked last year after the second wave subsided, when many children struggled with complications related to the heart, lungs, blood vessels, brain, digestive system and eyes. Children also have Long Covid and face chronic complications, even though some of them are asymptomatic during the infection.
