Ashraf Haidari, an economist at the Afghan Finance Ministry, said he had received a call from a Taliban commander who told him, “Don’t panic…or…don’t try to hide.”
“The officers need your expertise to run the country after the foreigners leave,” the commander told Ashraf.
According to Reuters, the Taliban have asked officials to return to work.
