After an inebriated passenger allegedly caused a ruckus on board, a Doha-Bengaluru flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport late Saturday night.
Sarfuddin Ulwar, a Kerala resident, was arrested and charged under the Indian Penal Code and the Aircraft Act, according to police. On Sunday, he appeared in a metropolitan magistrate court and was remanded in custody.
Ulwar allegedly misbehaved with an air hostess when she tried to stop him from drinking, according to police. They went on to say that he allegedly abused and fought with other passengers who tried to intervene. According to police, his actions forced the flight to be diverted and make an emergency landing in Mumbai.
When the plane landed in Mumbai, the Central Industrial Security Force took Ulwar into custody and handed him over to the police.
