Dubai opened the Museum of the Future on Tuesday, a building considered the most beautiful in the world.

The museum is a seven-story hollow silver oval adorned with quotes in Arabic calligraphy of the rulers of Dubai. It occupies a place on Sheikh Zayed Road, the city’s main thoroughfare.

At night, the building’s striking façade is illuminated by a colorful laser show as crowds gather outside.

It was later officially opened by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose vision for the future is said to be the driving force behind the museum.

While the museum’s contents have yet to be announced, it will showcase design and technological innovations and take visitors on a “journey to the year 2071,” according to organizers.

A roadside sign described the museum – just minutes from the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa – as “the most beautiful building in the world” prior to its grand opening.

It is the latest addition to a striking architectural series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a series of futuristic designs opening on the outskirts of Dubai on September 30, following the $7 billion World Expo.

The UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, is home to another pioneering design, a branch of France’s Louvre museum, which last year extended its license for 165 million euros ($186 million) by a decade to 2047 .

After French President Emmanuel Macron opened the Louvre Abu Dhabi in late 2017, it attracted around 2 million visitors in the first two years before the Covid-19 pandemic.
