DuckDuckGo announced that it is developing a privacy-focused desktop browser. The company also has browsers for Android and iOS devices, which are said to protect your Internet activity from third-party trackers. DuckDuckGo aims to provide these privacy features to desktop users through its new web browser. Its focus is on designing “daily browsing applications”. By default, it provides strong privacy protection in search, browsing, email, etc.

The announcement was made via a blog by DuckDuckGo CEO Gabriel Weinberg. By default, the browser will provide all privacy features, and its service does not have any level. DuckDuckGo aims to develop a browser for daily use to prevent companies from monitoring users’ search and browsing history. The desktop browser will use the mobile version of the Fire button to provide a clean and simple interface. All tabs and browsing data can be cleared instantly with one click.

The blog post also mentioned many privacy features that DuckDuckGo released for its mobile app this year. For example, the email protection feature is designed to remove trackers from emails. It also recently launched an application tracking protection feature on Android, which is said to prevent third-party companies such as Google and Facebook from tracking other applications. DuckDuckGo is using the rendering engine provided by the operating system to develop its desktop browser. According to a report by The Verge, the browser will use Edge/Chromium on the PC and Safari/Webkit for rendering on the macOS system. However, all remaining features were developed by DuckDuckGo from the ground up. According to reports, the browser is in closed beta on macOS, and the Windows version is expected to be released soon. DuckDukcGo claims that early tests show that its browser is much faster on the desktop than Chrome. The company has no news about the official release date of the browser.
