During an emergency landing in Costa Rica, a cargo plane splits in two

Cargo plane carrying mail and packages skids off runway and breaks in two in San Jose, Costa Rica. Emergency landing causes temporary closure of the international airport. Plane of German logistics giant DHL ground to a halt after skidding off the runway when it spun and broke up.

The Boeing-757 plane was forced to return to the airport due to a mechanical failure shortly after take-off. The pilot and co-pilot were shaken up but both crew were conscious and “remember everything vividly”.

Hundreds of flights and thousands of passengers were affected by the disruption.
