A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit China’s remote Himalayan region, Tibet, on Friday. The area is close to Nepal. There are no reports of houses collapsing or traffic and communication services being disrupted due to the earthquake. According to the Xinhua news agency, the county government has sent officials to villages and cities to gather more information. Tingri is bordered by the southern part of Nepal. Most areas of the county belong to Mount Everest National Nature Reserve.
Nine fire engines were sent to the epicenter of the earthquake. More than 100 firemen and dozens of vehicles have been asked to be ready. Meanwhile, earthquake tremors were also felt in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu and adjoining districts. The National Seismology Center in Kathmandu measured 6.2 earthquake intensity. The tremors were felt at 7.18 am. The epicenter of the quake was in Quilling, Tibet. There is no news of the loss of life or property. Five days ago a tremor of five magnitude earthquake was felt in the western tourist city of Pokhara in Nepal.
