Today is the last day to submit nominations for the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly election, which is divided into seven phases. Nomination reviews will take place on January 24, and seats will be voted on on February 10.
Days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) confirmed that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will contest in the parliamentary elections in Gorakhpur city, the Samajwadi Party has confirmed that its leader, Akhilesh Yadav, will fight in the Karhal constituency of Mainpuri district.
“Our country’s president, Akhilesh Yadav, will be running for the Karhal seat,” said Ashutosh Verma, national spokesman for the Samajwadi party. However, the party has yet to issue an official statement on this.
Meanwhile, the BJP announced the top 34 candidates for Goa’s parliamentary elections scheduled for February 14. The list does not include Utpal Parrikar, son of former defence minister Manohar Parrikar, who ceded his claimed Panjim seat to MLA Atanasio “Babush” Monserrate.
