Electric vehicles in India: Miles to go, but the journey has begun

However, the real turning point will be the local manufacturing of electric car batteries, so prices may fall. Currently, batteries account for about half of the cost of vehicles and may need to be replaced within 8 years.

As the adoption rate rises, powering electric vehicles in India will become a challenge. The slow growth of India’s power supply, charging stations and battery manufacturing industry may all hinder the development of the industry.

“It has become the main car in my family,” said 36-year-old Naphade. This car can travel about 250 kilometers on a single charge. If they use the charger installed in the garage, it will take about 8 hours.
