According to reports, at least two people were killed and five others were injured in an explosion at the Ludhiana District Court Building near the police station office. The explosion occurred at around 12:22 pm in the bathroom on the second floor. There are eight courtrooms on the second floor of the building, but due to the strike of some lawyers, not many people were present on Thursday. The area has been cordoned off by the police and the courtroom is being vacated. One of the injured was identified as a supporter of RS Mand.

According to reports, lawyers are on strike, which is why fewer lawyers were present on Thursday than on any other day. It is not clear whether the explosion came from any cylinder, as there is also a court canteen on the second floor. However, because the explosion occurred in the toilet, the cylinder explosion may not occur.

Ludhiana Police Chief Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the situation in the court building is now under control and there is no need to panic. “The sound of an explosion was heard near the recording studio on the second floor of the Ludhiana Court Building. The incident resulted in one death and two injuries. The bomb disposal team and the forensic team have been called from Chandigarh for investigation,” the chief of police said of ANI. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said he will go to Ludhiana. “I’m going to Ludhiana. As the parliamentary election approaches, some anti-national elements are doing this. The government is on alert. Those convicted will not be spared,” he said.

After the explosion in the district court, all government offices will now undergo thorough inspections during security inspections.

Former Chief Minister Captain Amarind Singh stated that Punjab police must find out the truth of the case. “The disturbing news about the explosion in the Ludhiana court building. I am deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of the two people. Pray for the recovery of the injured. Punjab police must thoroughly investigate this matter,” Amarind Singh (Amarinder Singh) tweeted.

The incident occurred after the blasphemy incident that shocked the state of the polls. On Saturday, a UP man was lynched to death for allegedly attempting to commit desecration in the temple of the Golden Temple. According to reports, the man jumped over the golden grill in the sanctuary, picked up a sword, and reached a place where a Sikh priest was reciting the sacred Guru Granth Sahib.

The explosion has raised questions about the safety of government buildings, as there have been reports of drones throwing weapons in Punjab.
