The film Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar’s release was delayed on Thursday by the Bombay High Court. It also contained any advertising materials that found a strong prima facie evidence that the filmmakers had used director Karan Johar’s name and identity without permission. The case was postponed until July 10.

The appeal of Karan Johar
Karan Johar filed a lawsuit against the Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar filmmakers before the Bombay High Court. The illegal use of his name in the movie’s title was the subject of the plea. According to confirmation from his team, “Bollywood director-producer Karan Johar has filed a complaint with the Bombay High Court alleging that the creators of the upcoming Hindi film Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar have improperly used his name.”

More information
The complaint is directed on writer-director Bablu Singh, producers IndiaPride Advisory and Sanjay Singh, and writer-director Karan Johar for using his name in the movie’s title. Given the producer’s prominence in the media, it is implied that Karan Johar is being mentioned in Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar, even if his name is not mentioned explicitly or collectively. The appeal asserts that Johar’s reputation and goodwill have suffered greatly as a result. June 14 is the scheduled release date for the film.
